For the better part of the past year Domba has been busy working as a key member of Savour The Rations, a collective out of Western Sydney, featuring members Raj Mahal, Kwame, Rellyman , Gibrillah and Jay Jay Assassin. While these projects have been the focus of the producer's energies in recent times, Domba is returning to his roots in his latest EP ‘5:45PM’, his first solo project in three years. The collection of instrumentals builds on the ideas first explored in his 2014 release ‘Midnight LP’ and offers a stripped back dreamscape that levitates the soul, whose rolling synths work their way into your psyche and provide escapism in its purest.
The title of the release is drawn from its cover art, a photograph taken outside of Domba's home at twilight, the exact moment he came to realise it was time to release his own body of work. Domba claims "This release is a collection of tracks coming from different times of my life" and believes it represents a breaking down of the internal barriers that we all experience in our daily lives. ‘5:45pm’ is an opportunity to kill your ego, to let go and live in the moment, it is an opportunity to forget who you are and live freely.
